Why you don't need to read music first

What you really need at the piano is knowing which key to press next. Traditionally you had to decode that from the staff — but if the keys are shown to you directly, you can skip the reading barrier and start playing right away. GrandScore maps the notes in the score to the actual keys in real time, so your hands can move even before you've memorized note names.

GrandScore shows you which keys to play

Open a piece and the keys to play flow across the screen as you go. Slow the tempo to check note by note, or practice one hand at a time with a tap. Loop just the tricky bars. Because you start by playing rather than reading, you can sound out the opening of a song you love on day one.

Reading comes naturally as you play

Even while you follow the visual guidance, the sheet music is shown right alongside it. Seeing 'this note = this key' every time, you gradually pick up notation without studying it separately. Start with no reading required, and grow into it — that's the natural order.

Three steps to start today

1. Open piano.grand-score.com in your browser (no download, no sign-up). 2. Pick a song, slow the tempo, and start with the right hand. 3. Add the left hand once it feels natural, and speed up gradually. Struggling is normal — loop short sections and your hands will remember.

Not reading music is no reason to give up on piano.
